What is the process to take a placement test for Lone Star College?
You will need to apply to Lone Star College System at www.lonestar.edu/admissions.
Once you complete your free online application you will receive a Lone Star student id and user name. You will then create a Lone Star College account that is called mylonestar. You will have to log in to your Mylonestar account and complete the pre-assessment activity video. It is a video to prepare you for the placement test you will take. Once this is complete, you will be eligible to test. The deadline to complete the pre-assessment requirements is Monday 3/17/2014.
Why do I need a mylonestar account?
This is a very important account. It will give you access to all of your information such as grades and emails from professors. You can also check to make sure you are enrolled in all of the right classes each semester. You can check the balance for your classes and make sure you paid for all of your classes.
Do I need to pay to take a placement test with Lone Star College?
The initial test is free of charge for dual credit students. However, if you need to retest for any reason there is a fee and you will be required to go to Lone Star to retest.
Once I test how do I know what I can take?
You will receive your test results once you finish your exam. You can then speak to an advisor to see if you qualify for classes. If so, you will then want to talk to your counselor to see what options are available to you.
